LIFA Programs

LIFA Livestock Health Investigation Initiative

The initiative focuses on identifying and addressing emerging threats and systemic challenges affecting animal health and productivity through field-based studies, diagnostics, and collaborative research.

Program Overview

Livestock Industry Foundation for Africa (LIFA) recognizes that early detection and informed response to livestock health issues are critical for sustaining productivity and ensuring food security.

Through the Livestock Health Investigation Initiative, LIFA undertakes investigative missions and field research to understand root causes of livestock diseases, health management failures, and environmental stressors.

LIFA’s investigations have explored pressing issues such as vaccine inefficacy, mycotoxin contamination in feed, and antimicrobial resistance in poultry. These efforts often involve data collection across multiple locations, laboratory diagnostics, expert consultations, and interviews with farmers to identify trends and gaps in current practices.
